Drive detection

Post by kalyanpabolu »

Hello Team,

We are monitoring Windows systems in Nagios XI. When we add a windows server in monitoring, we use "NCPA" configuration wizard which automatically fetches all drives present on windows machine.

But, when a new drive is added later, Nagios is unable to recognize it on its own.
Is there a way that Nagios should be able to find out on its own that a new drive has been added.

Please suggest.

Hi,
How are you doing?
Nagios XI does not do that level of auto discovery.

Please re-ran the NCPA wizard again, using same Host/Service name.

Hello,

Will you be able to help us with some scripts that can fetch this information?

Hi,
How are you doing?
If you already added a new drive to your current host/service, the easiest is to just re-ran the "NCPA wizard" again.

Once you ran the wizard, it will display all drives for that host, you can just select the new drive only and then add that to the current host/service you have running (monitoring).

NOTE: In the above example, I only just one "C:\" drive. If there are more than one drive in my system, the wizard will display them so you select.

Unless you are constantly adding new drive that you think you would need a script for that, I think it is faster just re-run the NCPA wizard just like the picture above.

Also, as support tech, we are not allowed to provide custom script(s).
