Version shown is incorrect after upgrade

Post by smblair »

We upgraded from 5.6.14 to 5.8.4 via rpm as per the original install. All seemed to go well and the system is functioning normally. The UI shows an upgrade available, which is 5.8.4. I attempted to upgrade via the UI and it resulted in a hung task. After resetting, I tried a console upgrade. It detected an rpm install and said there was nothing to do. A system profile build failed but "View System Info" worked and is included. The UI still displays 5.6.5 although it had been running 5.6.14 and is now 5.8.4. The system has never had any install or upgrade other than rpm.

If you need something else, please let me me know. We would like to resolve this.

Perhaps you can rescue it from the command line:

Code: Select all

yum reinstall -y 'nagiosxi*'
Do you have a backup you could restore from and try again?

I already did that and cleaned some old rpms. All "nagiosxi" rpms are 5.8.4.

I cannot tell what went wrong with the first upgrade. There might be a log on the system that details it, but we won't know.

Can you restore from backup and try from the command line, then post the entire output?

Code: Select all

yum install nagiosxi

I cleaned the database, deleted obsolete systemd files and restarted all services. The displayed version is now 5.8.4 but "Check for Updates" indicates there is an update available, 5.8.4. Is there a flag to clear this?

The upgrade failed. NagiosXI UI was not displaying any new status after upgrade. Nagios Core did display properly. We reverted to the pre-upgrade snapshot.

We would like to get this resolved. This is not the first ticket on this issue and related issues. As can be seen in the attachments, 5.6.14 is installed but Nagios displays 5.6.5. All attempts to upgrade this system have failed for various reasons. Searches of your docs and knowledge base have not produced any solutions. We have another XI instance in AWS that has no issues and is current at 5.8.4. We presently have support for four hundred nodes.

What do you need from us to diagnose the problem?
