Nagiosxi 5.6.14 to 5.8.4

Post by LM-PP1 »

Hey nagios support team,

I am running nagios on an offline centos 7. I upgraded to 5.8.4 and for the most part everything was working until a host was added. Once I added the host the monitoring engine stopped working. I had to revert back to 5.6.14. I will try to update again next week. Do you guys have any advice?

Thanks,
Jeremy

Hi,

It just so happens 5.8.5 was released yesterday. I would give that a try. But what
you should do is set up a test server that is a clone of your Prod server, and try the
upgrade on the Test server. That way if there is a failure you can leave it as-is so
you/we can look at the logs and troubleshoot it.

When you buy an XI license you are allowed three activations:
Nagios XI License Policy
With every purchase we offer 3 separate activation of XI licenses. One for production, one for testing, and one for high availability. We always recommend upgrading on a test server first before making changes to the production server.

I believe that we are already using all three licenses that we have.

Hi

Ok, just wanted to make sure you were aware of the licensing policy.

I'll leave this open for now.

Thanks

Hi

I would run the upgrade on your Test server 5.6.14 ---> 5.8.5. If there are no errors
try adding a host. If the monitoring engine stops then send us a System Profile so we
can troubleshoot.

To send us your system profile.
1. Login to the Nagios XI GUI using a web browser.
2. Click the "Admin" > "System Profile" Menu
3. Click the "Download Profile" button
4. Save the profile.zip file and share this in a private message and then reply to this post to bring it up in the queue.
