Re: contact vs user
The way I explained in the screenshots is how you created a "Contact" by selecting "Create as monitoring contact".
That user do not have any permission to do anything in Nagios XI GUI.

Vinh

XI User Contact:
A contact created through the "Add New User" Admin interface by checking the box labeled "Create as a Monitoring Contact".
Core Notification Handlers:
XI Notification Handlers:
Nagios XI notification commands - "xi_host_notification_handler" and "xi_service_notification_handler". These handlers
use the Nagios XI SMTP settings but require that the contact was created as an XI User Contact.
From my test, I created a "XI User Contact" as stated above.
I tested it in Nagios XI 5.8.5 and 5.8.3
Sometimes, it is best to delete a user and re-create it.
Also, the contact that you create will not know his/her user ID or password so will only receive email notifications as assigned by nagiosadmin.
