availability reports show data as 0

Post by erkanerturk »

Hi
we have nagios XI 5.6.14
when we enter reports > availability, it shows host and service data as all 0

example:
service data
Host service ok warning unknown critical
average 0.000% 0.0000% 0.0000% 0.000%

why?

Hi,

I can get that result if there's no data present for the time period. Can you try to widen the time period and let me know if the results change?

Also, login into the Core interface at:

Code: Select all

https://<ipaddress>/nagios
and then run the same availability report from that interface and let me know if you get different results.

Also, send us the system profile and we check the logs. Thanks, Benjamin

Hi
i am not able to share zip file according to org policy.
please continue to chat in this platform

for the extending duration;
no change.. i have also narrowed the report by selecting some hosts or HGs, no change

for the nagios interface;
I have seen that, after restarting nagios, i have seen only one host group, linux-servers, and it includes only one host, localhost. it shows the report according to this. there are no other HGs or Hosts ..
it also shows only one host in hosts screen.

for the nagiosXI interface:
in hosts screen, i see all hosts. and check times are increasing alarms are being produced. only i could not see availability report. i only see 0 as percentages..

i guess that, reports read archive logs
i have seen logs in the directory nagios/var/archives, including today. permissions are nagios/nagios rw,r,r

only availability reports are not working.. for example, i see alert histogram graph without problems

Hi,

Thanks for testing that out.

Are you logged in as a user account or the nagiosadmin account? Can you test this again as the nagiosadmin, and let me know if the results change.

If that account works, I'd like to see a screenshot of the user permission settings, go to Admin > Manage Users, click the lick on the account name.

If you get the same results as the nagiosadmin, please retrieve the Apache logs and database logs, then send them over in a private message.

Thanks,
Benjamin

Hi

recently i have thought that problem resolves somehow. But today i noticed a new problem
- when İ login with nagiosadmin account i see numbers and percentages in availabiity report as average %97
- when i login as my ldap account, i see numbers and percentages in availabiity report as average %22
- when another user logins with admin privielege level she still sees 0 !

screen shot has been sent as priv message. by the way my and other users settings are same. but both of us see different numbers

Hi,

Interesting, the problem went away for some period and then returned, is that correct?

Got the screenshot. It would be really helpful to see the system profile, are you able to share any log files from the system?

Please go ahead a log in as root to the server, and run the repair script, they could be some corruption in the tables.

Code: Select all

/usr/local/nagiosxi/scripts/repair_databases.sh
Next, optimize the PHP settings the serer to rule out any timeouts or PHP resource issues.
Nagios XI - Optimizing The PHP Settings File

Then run the following tail command to capture the Apache logs, and test the 3 scenarios described. If you notice an error in the log please post those or send them over in a private message. Thanks, Benjamin

Code: Select all

tail -f /var/log/httpd/*error_log

Hi
yes, problem somehow appeared, disappeared and reappered. in fact my friend has done some things but, because he is now covid, i could not tell what he has done..

I have done the followings..
I have repaired DB, successfully.
i have restarted nagios and friends (npcd etc..) and httpd
i did not make any php optimization, because i did not see the related messages in the log files..

these did not change the output.
I have opened the availability GUI and tried to capture *error_log, but i only see access logs which tsates availability.php has been run with several parameters..
I have collected some logs and sent them to you privately..

if you specify the logs, i can anonymize and sent them to you..
if required we can meet on a webex session.. our nagios server is located in a different local network..

Hi,

Thanks for the log files, those look normal. What version of Nagios XI are you using?

The data shown will depend on either on the user settings or what monitoring objects the user is associated with. For example, if the user account is not admin, they will only see data on the hosts or services they are associated with or if the "can see all hosts and services is enabled on the user account."

I'd like to confirm if there is any difference between local accounts and ldap accounts. Can you create a couple of local accounts with the same settings and let me know if there is any difference in behavior?

For the user account that is seeing 0 data, when you go to the home page, how many host and service objects do you see in the status summary dashlets?

Lastly, for the user with admin privileges and 0 data in the report, try manually adding them to the host or services, and let me know if you notice any changes. This will confirm an issue with the permission settings in the user accounts. You can do this easily from the Bulk Mods Tool in the CCM. Do you notice any change in the reports for this account?

Thanks,
Benjamin

our nagios xi version is 5.6.14

In our case, all users have admin rigths.. But they see different reports..
My newly created local account with admin rights, have availability report data as 0
1 interesting point is that, my user has admin priv and user X has admin privilege, but we see 2 different reports!
when I go to hosts and services page, I see the same number of hosts/services for me, user X and newly created local account

when I add user X to hosts and services with the bulk mod tool, yes I have seen numbers now! But it is different. this may be because i have only added this account some of the hosts, not all..

how can I correct user permission issue?

Try applying configuration again to see if that helps.

Then logout/log back in as the user.

Can you PM me your /usr/local/nagios/etc/cgi.cfg file?
