Running the evaluation download and have the following questions:
Am I able to specify which hosts and services a user can see instead of them being able to see services and hosts that they don't even know about? For example, if I am a client that wants us to monitor their system, I want to create an account for them so that they can view only their hosts and services.
Can I monitor systems within a private network from the outside?
Thanks,
G

Re: Settings Questions
Would anyone be able to answer this? It's a shame that I called to get help on this and they said I would be contacted with some info and haven't received a call nor a reply here. I am interested in this product but if I am going to have trouble getting some questions answered, that may be a concern to me.

Re: Settings Questions
This is absolutely HORRIBLE. I made this post a few days ago with no response. I placed a call and they were supposed to call me back and still no call back. I then submitted a request through the contact form and nothing!!!
I mean, how hard is it to take 5 minutes out of your time to answer a few questions for someone that is fully interested in purchasing the product??????
Obviously, if I weren't that interested, I wouldn't even be complaining here...and clearning, I am still trying to get a bit of attention to get my questions answered....Is this what I look forward to with support as well???

Re: Settings Questions
Yes, that's a question I've been pondering the last day or two.unix4linux wrote:...Is this what I look forward to with support as well???
I've posted a few questions, some answered and some not. I'm happy with 2 line answers that briefly acknowledge that there is or isn't a problem, as this is better than no response or waiting ages for response."This board serves as an open discussion and support collaboration point for Nagios XI. NOTE: Nagios XI customers should use the Customer Support forum to obtain expedited support for Nagios staff."
I understand I am only trialing the product right now. The trial gives you 60 days which is great, this gives you plenty of time to get your head around the product, how it works and how to use it. However in a trial support options are usually limited to the forums. It's essential that some sort of timely response is given to the public support forums otherwise that 60 day trial dwindles down. Sure you could just download the VM again but then you've got to set it all up again.
As unix4linux said, is this the type of response expected in the paid-for support forums?
Don't get me wrong, I love the product and what it delivers and I hope they can improve the responsivness of these forums. Contact through forums is usually your first meeting with potential customers, you need to make sure that correspondence is timely and delivers otherwise customers will just go elsewhere.
Oh and sorry for going off-topic

Re: Settings Questions
Hello Box,
Thanks for your response. I totally understand that this is the free forum. My only concern is that I first contacted them both via the phone and through the contact form because I can't expect much from the forum if I am not a paying customer. I haven't received a response to either three sources. That is very frustrating. How can they honestly convince me that paid support will get me responses when they aren't making an effort to answer my questions for a sale.
Again, I know we are both going off topic but glad to see I am not the only one realizing this now. I believe in this product because I have used the free one before. This one is a lot more convenient and better to train employees who don't know much about perl or CLI.
That is why I am still here hoping for a response. I am going to try calling them again today and see what happens.

Re: Settings Questions
Too funny,
I have been trying to call all day and all I get is a voicemail. Are these guys still in business? Maybe I should stick to the free version.

Re: Settings Questions
How did you go getting in contact with these guys, did you ever receive a response?
I've noticed that the last time a post was made from an admin was Feb11th which is about 2 weeks ago.

Re: Settings Questions
I apologies for the no-reply on this. The answer is an ugly one at this time. Yes support for this is important and we recognize this. However currently it's not supported and there may not be support any time soon, but we do realize it's great importance.
One solution is to run VMs and another is(not supported) to run multiple instances of Nagios XI under different usernames with separate configs.
Sorry.

Re: Settings Questions
YAY!...finally.
Ok, If one of the options is to run multiple VM's to separate users, how does this conflict with licensing? Will I have to purchase a NagiosXI license for every VM I create?
