Monitoring AIX Systems with a Client?

Post by lazzarinof »

Good afternoon Nagios Team,

We are looking adding more in depth monitoring for several AIX systems. At first, I saw that there is an AIX agent, but it appears to have depreciated after AIX v6.1 (we are on 7.2)(https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... _Agent.pdf).

I then see that the NRPE agent mentions both Linux and Unix (and am guessing the AIX agent is depreciated?), but doesn't have instructions for installing on a AIX/Unix systems, and am thinking Unix is just mentioned in the context of "needing an agent" (https://library.nagios.com/library/prod ... nux-agent/).

I was honestly hoping the NCPA client would work, but Unix/AIX isn't mentioned at all, there (https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/ncp ... g-NCPA.pdf).

Is there a current set of instructions/recommendations for monitoring these systems?

Thank you,
-Frank

Doh! After posting, I found some instructions in:
https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/ncp ... g-NCPA.pdf
for the NCPA agent. Fingers crossed!

Hi

Good find! Please let us know how you make out.

Unfortunately we do not have an AIX test sytem and it doesn't look like there is a
"demo" or free" version of the AIX OS. If you know of one we would love to know about it.

We'll keep this post open in case you have questions.

Thanks!
