nagios tcp connection issue

ok after deleting a LOT of hugeamungus log files, the service started, but there is no log file.
but I was able tool rerun the db repair scrip and my server is back up and running.

on a side not is it safe to delete my /var/spool/mail/nagios file?

Yes it is safe to delete that

As for the the verification command you should run

/usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios -v /usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg
