Office 365 Monitoring

Post by rfannin »

Hi! I moved over from core to XI recently and I one thing I would like to monitor is office 365. I looked at the plug-in and it seems limited in what can be viewed and it appears that you have to specify each user to monitor, is this correct? I am hoping to monitor all mailboxes for size warnings and all onedrive & sharepoint for size alerts as well. Would love to monitor more but doesn't seem possible right now.

Thanks

Hi @rfannin, thanks for reaching out.

The MS 365 wizard is a first attempt to provide monitoring for Microsoft/Office 365. We welcome feedback as to what features you would like to see or would find useful.

At the time this wizard was created, Microsoft was moving away from its other REST endpoints and slowly merging them into the Graph api, used by the MS 365 wizard. I believe they have completed that process, so there is a great opportunity to add functionality to the MS 365 wizard.

What sort of alert data are you looking for from a check triggered when one or more mailboxes, etc., was getting too large?

Any other requests?

Hi Laura,

I would love to see the ability to monitor URLs that are hosted on Sharepoint Online. Right now it seems that only basic and proxy auth are supported by check_http, but if there is a way to authenticate to Sharepoint Online for URL monitoring we could capture so much more availability data for our team

Thanks

Hi @wneville, thanks for reaching out.

I have passed your idea for monitoring Sharepoint, to our support staff so it can be added to our requested feature list.

Thanks so much Laura. Is there any ability for the public to see what is on the requested feature list? I understand why that might not be possible but if it is posted somewhere I would love to see what else is one there

Thanks

Currently our policy for features is...
Nagios uses an internal process to add features to future releases. Nagios will consider all feature requests, internal and external, at our own discretion. Please make sure to check future releases for added features by going viewing the Changelogs.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Yeah, some plug-ins make you add users one by one, which is annoying. But you can use PowerShell to automate checking mailbox sizes for everyone, and set up alerts for OneDrive and SharePoint with Microsoft Flow or Logic Apps. It's way easier.

Oh, and I got Microsoft Office Pro Plus 2021 with a lifetime license, super helpful for stuff like this. You can check it out here: https://www.nerdused.com/products/micro ... me-license
