Restoring Backups and Updating NagiosXI

Hi, will updating NagiosXI from 3.2 to 3.3 cause my configured hosts,services and dashboards to be delted?
Also is there a way to restore everything back to the current state of configuration?
I Tried downloading the tar snapshot of the last known good config and subsequently followed the steps here

but its telling me that its unable to find any files to restore.
So end of the day my question is is there a way to keep my hosts; services; and dashboard settings?

A last known goof configuration snapshot and a backup are 2 different things.

the item you want to move to the new system to restore is the backup made by running
