Windows Host performance and ping service graphs contradicts

Post by logix88 »

Hi,

We have a Windows server monitored using XI Wizard and we have added it to Nagios a couple of days ago, what we found is that the host performance graph, shown below:

Is different to the ping service graph:

And basically we are looking for packet losses and the two graphs contradict one another. Ping service reckons 0 loss, however host performance graphs shows signs of losses.

I have checked the templates the xi wizard uses, and it's all in default - each of them has 5 min interval and both using check_icmp plugin and from what I can see both have exactly the same logic...

So, I am a bit confused as to why these are showing different results? Any help would be much appreciated.

Because it is 2 different checks that are run at 2 different times.

it would be possible to run one check and get ok results and run the second check a minute later and get some packet loss.

Each of the checks is likely only running over the course of 3-5 seconds every 5 minutes.
