New installation on Ubuntu fails

Post by frankwijers »

Hello everybody,
we have an installation of Nagios XI running on an old CentOS server. This version of CentOS is EOL, so we want to move it to another server.
I installed a new Ubuntu 22.04 LTS server for this (clean install). During the installation script, I got multiple issues with CPAN modules not being installed. After installing them manually, I got past that point, but I am getting stuck at a different point now.
The installation fails at script './A-subcomponents'
For some reason there is a dependency on libharfbuzz0b to be >= 5.1.0 but on this OS 2.7.4-1ubuntu3.1 is installed, which is the latest for Ubuntu Yammy.
Can anybody point me in the right direction how to get past this?
If I cannot get past this, I'm considering moving to Debian next week.
Thanks.

Hi @frankwijers, thanks for reaching out.

What version of XI are you trying to install on Ubuntu 22?

There is a known issue with XI2024 and Ubuntu 22, that sounds like the issue you are experiencing.

Please take a look at Installation or upgrade of Nagios XI2024 fails on Ubuntu and Debian and check out the section "For a new installation".

This will also be corrected in our next maintenance release.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Hi Laura, it was indeed Nagios XI 2024 (XI-Latest) on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
I reverted the machine back to clean installation, followed your instruction and I got through the entire installer.

Thanks for the assistance.
