After an offline upgrade to 2024R1.1, the monitoring engine does not start. I tried the reconfigure nagios script to fix permissions, I repaired the database, I restarted all services and the entire machine and nothing seems to work. The system status page says the engine is running but the monitoring engine page says that it is not and all the checks are stale

Hi @infofedsec,
It looks like there are a few third party components here that are known to interfere somewhat with the normal function of Nagios XI. According to your system profile, your monitoring engine is running, so if the checks look stale and the engine page says it is down, most likely the issue is database-related. I'm finding plugins like "NagiosXI On-Call" that appear to have caused recent PHP errors with the CCM, as well as Falconsensor and Tanium which are both known to cause XI regular issues. You might find success removing third party plugins and components and performing the steps you've taken already to try and get back to a stable state, at which point you could try re-introducing third party plugins to determine which one causes issues for the engine. Snapshotting your VM when you have known good states would be advisable if you go this route.
Please let us know if you have any further related questions or issues.

i have removed the nagiosxi-on call. Falconsensor and Tanium cannot be removed as they as are company mandated. Despite this, there is no improvement. Unfortunately there are no snapshots, is there anyway to repair this or do i have to completely rebuild?

Given the mandates of your environment, I would suggest opening a support ticket at https://answerhub.nagios.com/support/s/ so that the issue can be further assessed.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
