Changing email notification

Post by COSIT »

Hi,
We would like to change the our existing email notifications from Nagios as we are getting too many notifications. For all hosts and services we are wanting to change so Nagios to send an email when a service or host is down, and then 1 once it comes back online. What is the best way to do this?

Notification options are under the admin tab.

Hi,

Are you referring to Admin>Notification Management>Notifications Preferences?

It seems you only able to select the type rather the changing the frequency of the alert, as we just wanted a notification on when a host or service is down and then another when its recovered. As at the moment we are getting an email every hour?

Hey @COSIT

If you only want to be emailed on state changes then I believe if you change the notification interval to 0 it should only notify you when the state changes rather than repeating during the interval selected while in a state that it is configured to notify for. You can change these options in the CCM (config-> core config manager). Hopefully you have our enterprise edition so then you can use the bulk modification tool to change all your hosts and services at the same time. If you do it will be under tools->Bulk mod tools and it will be change a single config option (notification interval). Otherwise you'll have to go into each host/service and update it manually (or contact our csm's at csm@nagios.com and get enterprise edition instead of painstakingly updating each service).
