Having an issue upgrading RPM install through dnf update
Hi!
I have an RPM installation of Nagios XI 2024R1.0.1 on RHEL 9 that I am attempting to upgrade using dnf update. On RHEL 7, before we migrated to RHEL 9, I used to do this all the time with no problems. But now, when I do it, it will start the process, and seemingly finish, but the product stays at 2024R1.0.1 on the web console. It has done this for both 1.1.3 and 1.1.4. It also did this for some version before this, but I can't remember the version number. It also asks for a password at some point, also - I'm not sure why it is doing that. I have posted the dnf transaction below.
I'd love if anyone had some ideas on what might be going on! Thanks so much.

Re: Having an issue upgrading RPM install through dnf update
Thanks for your reply!
I will admit, we run everything through Red Hat Satellite - where we have the repositories cached, those are checked every night.
I am running "sudo dnf update" on the system. I'm guessing yum would work the same way (we used to use that on RHEL 7).
Thanks again, if I can give anymore details please let me know.

Hmm... I just found this upgrade log. Maybe I'm missing that field being filled out.

Re: Having an issue upgrading RPM install through dnf update
Hi Dustin (@tealisreal),
Sorry, I missed that you were using dnf. It should work the same as yum.
Would you please attach your complete XI upgrade.log, so we can do some troubleshooting?

Re: Having an issue upgrading RPM install through dnf update
Hi, thanks again for your help!
For the first issue, I was missing, what I presume, was the mysqlpass root password:
Make sure the "mysqlpass" value in "/usr/local/nagiosxi/etc/xi-sys.cfg" and
"/usr/local/nagiosxi/var/xi-sys.cfg" is up to date and accurate.
But now, I am having another issue... our system is offline, so it seems like I am getting some issues with network connectivity. Is there a workaround that continues to allow RPMs? Thanks again:

Re: Having an issue upgrading RPM install through dnf update
At least in my situation, on an offline VLAN'ed system, I found what I think is a workaround... at least Running scriptlet: nagiosxi-2024R1.1.4-1.el9.x86_64 did not stick this time at at the AWS boto3 portion.
I downloaded the latest versions of boto3 and it's dependencies from pypi into the same folder (the whls). Then ran pip install on them after running sudo su (so they install to the system site-packages):
pip install s3transfer-0.10.1-py3-none-any.whl jmespath-1.0.1-py3-none-any.whl botocore-1.34.127-py3-none-any.whl boto3-1.34.127-py3-none-any.whl
Then dnf update.
Nagios XI is now at Nagios XI 2024R1.1.4 on the web console.
I'll probably have issues in the future, but I'm guessing I'll need to allow whatever URL pip downloads whl files from in the future. I'm also hoping that the system site-packages is OK...

Re: Having an issue upgrading RPM install through dnf update
If the versions of pip packages change, then unfortunately most likely you'll hit this again in the future.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Re: Having an issue upgrading RPM install through dnf update
Thanks jmichaelson, I appreciate the confirmation. At some point, I'll seek approval to poke a hole in the firewall to get to the necessary URL.
Thanks to you both for your help!
