Events have stopped being sent via email, although notifications report shows notifications were issued to to me.
Already been thru https://support.nagios.com/kb/article/n ... ms-36.htmldocument. All of my configurations check out.
eventman.log repeatedly shows an error about "File Count query of /usr/local/nagios/var/spool/perfdata/" In spite of the fact that I first de-activated(didn't help), then totally deleted the service. Its like a deleted service won't really go away, keeps getting checked. (but I also get no notification for it). IDK if this is causing my general lack of notification problems.
Test emails work, and I also get emails notifying me of nightly backup and a scheduled report. So email configuration is not the problem.
/usr/local/nagiosxi/tmp/phpmailer.log shows only successful test emails and successful report messages. No errors. But also no notifications shown.
Why is Event Manager item System Component dashlet showing red, when clearly eventman.php is running every minute by cron?
How to get my notifications going again?
No Notifications - Event Manager Dashlet Red - eventman.php IS running in cron

Re: No Notifications - Event Manager Dashlet Red - eventman.php IS running in cron
Resolved by not happy. Root cause: yet another corruption of the mysql database.
Had to make a support call to get it resolved, tech provided me code to truncate various tables. I shouldn't have to get into the guts of mysql to keep this $#!% product running. XI runs a database clean-up (dbmaint.php) every five minutes, so why isn't this kind of problem detected and prevented proactively without a failure of monitoring and a support call?
Sadly, I'm going to have to come up with a way to monitor my monitoring application.
We pay for this product.

Hi @gregbeyer,
Thanks for reaching out and for following up with the resolution. I agree that this situation is frustrating and should be preventable. I will try to get it prioritized during the upcoming maintenance releases.

Yes, very frustrating, but also worrying that my enterprise might not be reliably monitored. How old is XI -- 9 years? I keep seeing responses that "xxx" is known issue, and will be addressed in some future release (but no guarantee when), and of course no development roadmap to be found. After nine years, I expected a higher level of maturity than what I'm finding. And I'm new to it, not even using advanced features yet.
I convinced my management that we need to buy the commercial, enterprise grade products, but I'm feeling more and more embarrassed that I did. XI is definitely an improvement over wrangling dozens of config files, but gosh, it's got real problems of its own.

I hear what you're saying and I think it's an incredibly reasonable perspective to have. I can't share internal details of our future planning but I think there's a desire to address all of what you've mentioned here. I think your feedback here is useful and I'll make sure it gets up the chain.
