coupla questions

Post by benhank »

I noticed that in admin/manage system config there is a feature labeled "theme". Can someone explain what that is and where I would get some themes?
I noticed that there is a deadpool.php file in my nagios. What's that?

DISCLAIMER: this is not my idea, they are making me do it.

is it possible to replace the nagios logos with custom ones?
If so how is that done?

What is the tools feature?
or is there a link that explains the new features in 2012?
Thanks all!

This was one of those development ideas that we left open, and haven't actually returned to. Currently there is only the default XI theme.

This is a feature that we were hoping to have ready to go for the 2012r1.0 release, but just wasn't ready for production in time for the 1.0 release, so we're hoping to have it ready later this fall. The deadpool is a feature that can be enabled to auto-remove hosts/services that have been in a hard down state for X amount of days. It is meant for environments that have a lot of changes in monitoring configuration and is meant as a way to keep the config pruned for only active hosts.

Yep. If you have 2012, you should have the Custom Logo component accessible from the Admin->Manage Components page.
What is the tools feature?
Tools are basically custom URLs that can be used to tie XI into other web-based applications. Kind of like adding custom menu items.
or is there a link that explains the new features in 2012?
Erm...not really. Apart from the features list documented in the release notes, we don't have documentation for all of the new features yet.

These could be web pages or web addresses to remote scripts you want to run.

for Example, you could create one named Whois with a URL http://www.whois.net/

Or, you could name one NRDP with the URL /nrdp/ to bring you to the local NRDP test interface...

The nice thing is if you create Common tools, all users will have access to them.
