Upgrade Question

Post by srinivasmandalika »

Hello,

We have Nagios Log Server Version 1.4.2... Can we upgrade to 2.1.7 directly or do we need to upgrade to any intermediate version?

Any suggestions?

Thank You!

From the log server side of things there shouldn't be any reason why you can't do that upgrade.

That said, coming from such an old version of Nagios Log Server suggests that you may also be running on an older and, unsupported distribution of Linux. Newer dependencies for Log Server 2.4.1 may prevent the upgrade, however, if your distribution no longer has package repositories available.

Instead I would recommend migrating to an entirely new server, with a supported Operating system (and a newer Log Server version than 2.4.1. See our migration guide here: chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... Server.pdf

Can we backup the alerts created in the old server and restore them to new server? If yes, do you have any document for the same?

Thank You!

Those will all be in the backups that would be moved in the migration process in the PDF I linked in my previous post.
