Nagios XI not reading Emails

Post by JohnFLi »

a couple of months ago I upgraded from an older version of Nagios XI to 2024R1.4.1. Nagios would send out alerts, and a person could reply to the email and acknowledge the alert....all was good.

BUT

SInce I upgrade to nagios no longer seems to read incoming emails.
Even if the format of the email wasn't correct,it would still read it, and delete it. Now, it does nothing emails just filling up in its mailbox.

when i go to the EMAIL SETTINGS / INBOUND and click on test connection it sits for awhile and finally says

Code: Select all

Gateway Timeout
The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application
i am using exchange online and have the Connection set to POP3
Host: Outlook.office365.com
Port: 993
username and password set
encryption: TLS (i have tried SSL also)

any thoughts?

Hey @JohnFLi

Do you know if any of the inbound settings changed between versions? Something I noticed is you have the connection set to POP3 but are using port 993, which is typically the secure port for IMAP. If you change that to 995 for POP3 do you still have that issue?

Thank you for your reply...did not see until today
I have tried various configs...they all either time out, or straight out fail
