Unable to see Notification history in XI GUI

Hi Everyone,

I'm using Nagios XI for past 2-3 months and noticed that I'm unable to see notification history under a host or service in Nagios XI GUI. I'm received the alert over email and I could see the alert being triggered at notifications under incident management and under database in performance settings, I can see the Max Notifications Age is set to 90 days..


Any idea on what's going wrong or what i did was wrong. please let me know. Your help is much appreciated.

Hi DileepKumar,

In the host status detail and service status detail pages there should be a row of buttons near the top title. In the Neptune theme there is a button with text that says View Host Notifications.

In the modern classic theme it is an icon.

I think I see the issue, that there is another link on the row below this one for Notification History that doesn't seem to show anything. If that is indeed the case for you as it is for me, I will go ahead and open an issue to get this fixed.

Thank you very much for responding on this thread.

I can see the notifications under View Host Notifications but what I actually want is to see the notifications under "Notification History" which is another link on the row below.

Hey @DileepKumar,

I did some more testing and it looks like what shows up under the Notification History are records of Acknowledgements and Comments for that host/service.

Also to clarify, I think the information you are looking is under View Host/Service Notifications. These are the records for notifications sent for that host/service (over the last 24 hours by default). You can change the time period by clicking the report options gear icon.

If you are looking for the full Notification History for all hosts and services you can go to XI -> Reports -> Available Reports -> Notifications.

please excuse for repeating myself and you, but just to confirm and future references

Notification History are records of Acknowledgements and Comments for that host/service

Notification History which is in between "custom variables" and "Network Traffic Analysis" contains records of Acknowledgements and Comments for that specific host/service.

View Host/Service Notifications contains the actual notifications/alerts of the respective server/services


I will do the necessary testing and confirm here.

Thank you very much.

I did some testing from my end and I can see the any comments that I'm adding to a server/service is showing up under Notification History. I haven't acknowledged any service check but commenting does reflects the data under notification history.
