Facing issues with Passive checks

Post by DileepKumar »

Hi Everyone,

I have just seen that passive data which I'm receiving at /usr/local/nagios/var/spool/checkresults/ are not being cleared even after 25-30 min which is causing stale state ouptputs

I will be raising a case but before that is there any idea why this is being occurred and what's the solution

Below is the passive file permissions level

-rwxrwx--- 1 apache nagcmd 342 Dec 3 18:54 csuDaoh
-rw-r--r-- 1 apache nagios 0 Dec 3 18:54 csuDaoh.ok
-rwxrwx--- 1 apache nagcmd 343 Dec 3 18:54 cUGEwZl
-rw-r--r-- 1 apache nagios 0 Dec 3 18:54 cUGEwZl.ok
-rwxrwx--- 1 apache nagcmd 345 Dec 3 18:54 cZ8bvhk
-rw-r--r-- 1 apache nagios 0 Dec 3 18:54 cZ8bvhk.ok

Below is the permissions of checkresults directory
drwxrwsr-x. 2 nagios nagios 4886528 Dec 3 19:28 checkresults

Current nagios XI version 2026R1.0.1
, seeing the issue in previous version too.

Please note that issue is repetitive at random times and causing resolving itself

Anyone, please help me on this

Hello,

I do think support will be best to help you dig up what is causing this problem. First thing I am curious about is are there only specific host/services causing these problems or is it random on all passive checks. I am also curious if you are getting any unusual logs due to this issue. I am not sure the best specific log files to find anything related to this, but I would assume maybe just peek in a few log files found in /usr/local/nagios/var or /usr/local/nagiosxi/var. If you do find anything interesting please feel free to share it here otherwise support is the best bet.

HI @cdepaulis ,

Thank you for suggesting, I have already raised a case with nagios support and Yes, I have gone through logs and found nothing unusual. Anyhow, All i can see is that these passive checks are being receiving by Nagios XI server but not being processes for more than 30 minutes which leads to accumulation in the directory. However, this issue is being resolved by itslef without any human intervention
