RESOLVED: Migrating from Nagios Core to Nagios XI

Before purchasing Nagios XI I was given the impression there was a migration tool on XI which could 'connect' to a running Nagios Core server and pull config data.

Researching the support docs it seems its actually very manual process of pre-processing individual config files from the Nagios Core server with a PHP script and then running another PHP script to import them to Nagios XI.

Before I embark on that project:

Does a migration tool exist?
If not how is the documented two stage migration process different from simply putting candidate configs into the import directory?
