Can I upgrade or not?

Post by bqb »

When I try to run in the installer for 2026R1 on my 2024 system, it says to view the upgrade guide. That guide mentions only moving from one system to a new system and nothing about upgrading as most people think of it. Can I or can I not upgrade the system in place? The docs are as incomplete as they have always been.

I am working on an upgrade myself. In reading the documentation https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... o-2026.pdf it seems to indicate you must use a new server environment and perform a backup and database dump and then sync them over to an environment that has a fresh install. I am stuck with an issue of it stating on the new server that the MySQL credentials are incorrect but I am going to make my own forum post about that.

Hope your migration goes well!

Hello,

You will have to set up a new environment and migrate over to it. The documentation that smithjor left is the right place to look on instructions of how to do that. Primary note is to make sure you are migrating to 2026R1.0.1 or newer. To answer the question of upgrading in place you cannot do that. You will need a new system and you will have to download 2026R1.0.1 on that.

If you have any other questions or concerns please let me know.
