Nagios XI Trapd Setup

Post by mlopez »

Hi Nagios Support,

Setup:
- Vmware
- nagiosxi-2011r3.3-vmware-64

I'm currently looking at different NMS for a infrastructure of around 1,000+ devices all around the world. The current hardware is currently mainly sending traps at the moment and will need to setup Nagios in passive mode until I start creating checks further on.

For the last couple of days I've been trying to get SNMP Traps to be received by nagios xi and nagios core. I've tried configuring snmptrapd and snmptt manually and I am seeing the traps reach the messages and unknownsnmptt.log file under var/log which means Traps are reaching the server but no luck getting them to appear on Nagios. Ideally I would like to buy Nagios XI but also downloaded Nagios Core after not being able to resolve the issue and same issue arose.

I've also tried the automatic route by reading:
http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagi ... ith_XI.pdf
and installing it through:
http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagi ... NMPTrap.sh
but no luck at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Michael

Generally speaking if you are receiving them in the unknownsnmptt.log then you need to add the MIB's using the information in the Installing MIBs section of the following document (on page 2)
