Nagios Log Server 2026 - prereqs
Nagios Log Server 2026 - prereqs
I see that on most Linux distros, ntp is preferred over chrony. However, on RHEL8 and RHEL9, chrony is used. Why is this? We'd prefer to keep using chrony in our environment, which consists mostly of Ubuntu systems. Thank you.

I don't have a really good answer for you other than we set it up that way several years ago and it only got looked at when we added support for EL8.. No one ever looked at it for any other distro. I'll file an issue to look at it because I do see the same recommendation to use chrony everywhere. I'll get back to you with the issue number so you can track it in the changelogs, although I can't make any promises, of course.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

The issue you want to look for in the changelog is GL:NLS#881. I can't promise that it'll happen or give you a timeline but it is now on our radar.
