PUT/POST notifications for alerts?

Post by DIS UNIX »

We're running Nagios XI 2024R2.1 on a RHEL 8.10 VM. Over the past weekend, something (likely a Microsoft update) somehow messed up our notifications - only 1 of 4 phones still 'only' alerts for emails from Nagios -- the other 3 notify on EVERY received email. No rhyme or reason for it - same corporate Galaxy phones, updated, etc. Really impacting our 24-hr on-call.

This is the second round of external influences affecting our on-call rotation (first was when providers stopped doing the email-to-phone numbers...). We converted from SMS messages, to setting up a new email address for critical alert to send "from", configured that as a "favorite" contact in Outlook, and set our android phones to only notify when an email from that favorite hit the inbox. Has worked well for a couple years, until this past week.

We're looking at trying to figure out a way to integrate Notify (ntfy.sh) - or something similar - as a means to push alerts and hopefully bypass both MS and the providers, but we aren't quite sure on how to make that integration happen - the wheres and whatfors.

So the ask is - is anybody out there using an HTTP PUT/POST app to push notifications - and would you be willing to provide instructions?
