How to assign a group of service templates to a host group?

Post by tom_wong »

Hi,

At the moment, we can create a service template and then create a service to a host with that template.

(1) However, in cases, how can I assign a group of templates to a single host or a host group easily?

(2) Also, how can we use the XI web interface to see what services are under which service group? At the moment, if we go into service group and choose manage service, it lists nothing and actually many services are under this service group. This problem also apply to host group, when clicking manage hosts, it lists emply host but many hosts were under that particular group.

Thanks
Tom

1) You could create 1 template that has the group of templates attached to it, and them just add that one newly created template to the host/service.

2) there are 2 different ways to add hosts to hostgroups, or services to servicegroups, either through the host/service page or on the hostgroups/servicegroups page. Prior to 2012 there was no way to distinguish if they were added the other way but in 2012 they will appear greyed out if they were added through the host/service page.

(1) Thanks Scott, that will be fantastic

(2) Didn't see some of the services or hosts had been greyed out.

Thank you, Scott, you have been most helpful!
