Some Services Not Listing on Web CGI

Post by m2monk »

I have a nagios core installation, version 3.2.3 that is a few years old. I have never had problems with services not showing up on the web interface. Recently I added a few more services and they do not always show up on the web page. If i click on the services tab over and over they will eventually show up. Then when the pages refreshes I need to repeat the process in order for them to show up again. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I need to do to fix this issue?

Thanks!

I have encountered this issue before and it drove me nuts. But this was years ago and I'm not sure if I can actually remember what the root cause was.

*I think* the cause for this issue was duplicate instances of Nagios running simultaneously. If you check the nagios log it will probably have some warnings about orphaned services and if you stop the nagios service and do a ps -ef | grep nagios you will probably see an instance of the application still running... kill that off and start Nagios again and hopefully life will be good again.

If I am remembering correctly this bug was fixed in version 3.3.x and newer versions of Nagios shouldn't encounter it... at least I haven't seen it in a newer release.
