Alerts from a server behid a proxy/corporate network

I have installed Nagios in a Linux Server for our Lab which is a Local Area Netowork and can be accessed by a corporate gateway (or the LAN is behind a firewall).

Could you please let us know how can we configure the Nagios XI so that we can get notifications by email/sms from the Nagios Server.
