Email notification not displaying Hostname.

Post by jrooprai »

Hi I have recently upgraded NagiosXI to the latest Version: 2012R1.2 and have come across any issues with email notification. In the previous version email notification was presented in the following format in the subject of an email:- "RECOVERY Host Alert - host01 is UP" Here it states the Hostname, After the upgrade to R1.1 it now shows as "PROBLEM Host Alert - is DOWN". The hostname is not shown but in the body of the alert the hostname is present :-

***** Nagios XI Alert *****

Nagios has detected a problem with this host.

Notification Type: PROBLEM
Host: host01
State: DOWN
Address: 10.122.226.33
Info: CRITICAL - 10.122.226.33: rta nan, lost 100%
Date/Time: 16/11/2012 11:36:28

is this now the normal behaviour or a bug with the upgrade?

I believe I can see the problem. I think that some of your hosts do not have Description set and that is throwing you message template off.

If you click the username in the top right corner of XI.
Go to "Notification Messages"

In the Host/Service Alert Subject change %hostalias% to %host%

In the Service Alert Message change %hostalias% to %host%
