Bulk Host Import tool adds alias of "alias" to cloned host
Bulk Host Import tool adds alias of "alias" to cloned host
Discovered a funny bug when cloning hosts using the "Bulk Host Cloning and Import Monitoring Wizard" in 2012R1.2. with the Bulk Host Cloning and Import Wizard version 1.6. I've noticed that if I use this wizard to clone an existing host, the new host(s) end up receiving an alias field set to "alias" in their host configuration. The host being copied has it's alias field undefined during the cloning process. I haven't tried it to see what happens if this field is populated.

Re: Bulk Host Import tool adds alias of "alias" to cloned ho
If you don't want to see: "Alias: alias", you need to have "IGNORE" selected form the "Field 3" drop-down menu. See below:
If you have selected "Description", you should fill in the alias. Then, you will be able to view it properly.
Hope this helps.

Re: Bulk Host Import tool adds alias of "alias" to cloned ho
When I do my cloning, I usually have the FIELD1 set to "Name" and FIELD2 set to "Address", and FIELD3 set to "IGNORE". Is that wrong? This seemed to work OK before the upgrade to 2012 when I was using the Beta CCM.
Re: Bulk Host Import tool adds alias of "alias" to cloned ho
Actually, let me correct myself. It would show "Alias: alias" UNLESS you put in a description in the "Data" text box AND select "Description" from the drop-down menu. I am sorry for the confusion - I thought this was fixed, so it would show: "Alias: <blank>" if the description was not entered or/and "IGNORE" was selected from the "Field 3" drop-down menu.
