Nagios and distribution lists

I have my notifications configured to send emails to individual clients. No problem , it's working great. I tried to use a DL instead, and nothing.
i even went so far at to got to admin/ mange email setting/send test email to my email address, with success. Then I substituted my email address with the DL and nothing. Any suggestions?

and additional issue:
I am also trying to delete a contact. when I check it's dependencies this is listed :

I have no clue what "- " could be.

It's actually pointing to an empty string. Do you have any blank host entries in the CCM->Hosts page? Sometimes an import gone awry can create a ghost host entry in the CCM.
