NagiosXI goes offline when auto-discovery is run

Post by jeff.smith »

whenever I run auto-discorvery after a couple of minutes the server becomes unresponsive to both the web and Ping. I have to shutdown the server and restart it.

I am running the following:
NagiosXI as a VM, 64bit, downloaded image, (CentOS)
Nagios XI 2012R1.3 (new install about a week old just setting up)
No special setup or installations.

Not really sure which log to check for errors realted to this issue.

Thanks in advance for the assistance!

Is the auto discovery wizard still running when this happens? Or does it complete. Can you paste the output from the following log in a reply please:

Code: Select all

tail /var/log/httpd/error_log

Code: Select all

tail /var/log/messages
What does your system's load look like when you run:

Code: Select all

top
Is there any way you would be willing to watch TOP and run the auto discovery and keep an eye on the top processes and report back?

I will continue and run another scan on Monday, I will try to capture all the data then. I have made so many changes since this morning that the useful items are now burried in the logs. I will post an update on Monday. Thank you!
