"Sorry Dave..." Error on login page

Post by psyllex »

I just grabbed the trial of Nagios Fusion to test out. I used the 32 bit VMware Image to set it up. I received the URL,name, email, admin password etc from the browser. It says "Now sign into Fusion" and when I attempted to user the admin name and password given to me during installation...it gives me this error:
NSP: Sorry Dave, I can't let you do that
. I don't know what that means if it didn't install correctly, the license is expired, if it gave me a wrong username and password. Has anyone else experienced this?

We get this issue with Nagios XI periodically. It's almost always a date/time issue.

Is there any known way to fix this?

Did you follow the instructions on the FAQ? They explain how to fix it.

Sending instructions on what to do from INSIDE of Nagios to a problem where you CANNOT LOG INTO Nagios is, at best, an incredibly silly thing to do.

Perhaps things have changed since this was originally posted, but the link given forwards to this article: https://support.nagios.com/kb/article.php?id=33

This gives two options: 1) clear the cache, which did not work for me, either, or 2) go to this article: https://support.nagios.com/kb/article.php?id=152

That article gives one of two options:
Nagios XI needs to be configured with the correct timezone for all features to work. This can be performed via:

XI 5 onwards
Admin > System Config > System Settings

Pre XI 5
Admin > System Config > Manage System Config
Which requires you be logged into the application you cannot log into because of the error it is telling you how to fix.

As an aside,
1) All three systems have a common time source, and the clocks are close enough that watching their date output doesn't show a variance.
2) Clearing the FireFox cache (as instructed), restarting FireFox, restarting the computer, none of them worked. Even following the latest-and-greatest steps to clear all of the cache.

So what did finally work? Opening a private browsing window.

Still a fix in FireFox, and still probably connected to some kind of internal caching, but this one actually worked.

Things have definitely changed in the 4+ years since this topic was last active. This thread was also regarding Fusion and you are posting XI solutions, which probably won't be directly relevant to a Fusion install.

At any rate, this thread is incredibly old so I am going to lock it.
