Could you add a little bit more information, for what are you looking at the alias of? Are you asking how to search hosts/services by alias and not config name?

In Core Config Manager, when adding/editing a host there is a "description" field which acts as an alias directive. I would like to include this field in search results, is this possible?

It is not currently, only the config name is a part of the search. You could open a request at http://tracker.nagios.com for the feature though.

Would it be difficult to add this functionality to the "quick find" and "regular" search outside of CCM? What is the likelihood of it being implemented?
The answer affects how we will name 1000's of network elements and would be great to have this feature in the next release.

This feature already exists in the 2012 version of XI in the CCM.

We are requesting the same feature be added to "quick find" and "regular" search located on the host detail page, both of which are outside of CCM.
