Quick Find with more character not working

Post by zaji_nms »

Dear Expert,

i am doing quick search but it's not working when i do long name query , is there any character limitation on it ???

search "0171:tec_jnpr_1:4_0_0:lon_jnpr_1:5_0_0:OC48:LC:0B" and its giving result which matches with "0171:tec_jnpr"

The multiple colons in your search are throwing it off I think. Is that a host or service name?

What version of XI are you using?

I think I remember hearing about a bug about searching for items with multiple : : in them

We just tested this on 2 different machines running 1.3 and it worked as expected.

Steps we did to check this:
create a service named

Code: Select all

0171:tec_jnpr_1:4_0_0:lon_jnpr_1:5_0_0:OC48:LC:0B
entered the following in quick find

Code: Select all

0171:tec_jnpr_1:4_0_0:lon_jnpr_1:5_0_0:OC48:LC:0B
result was this specific service only.

Are we doing something different than you?

make 10 service which are named as follow and then do a quick search to specific service name ..\
1.0171:tec_jnpr_1:4_0_0:lon_jnpr_1:5_0_0:OC48:LC:0B
2.0171:tec_jnpr_1:4_0_1:lon_jnpr_1:5_0_0:OC48:LC:0B
30171:tec_jnpr_1:4_0_2:lon_jnpr_1:5_0_0:OC48:LC:0B like wise create 10 or more and use quick search and reply me.

I tried it on my 2012R1.3, made 10 different services with variations on:

1.0171:tec_jnpr_1:4_0_0:lon_jnpr_1:5_0_0:OC48:LC:0B
2.0171:tec_jnpr_1:4_0_1:lon_jnpr_1:5_0_0:OC48:LC:0B
30171:tec_jnpr_1:4_0_2:lon_jnpr_1:5_0_0:OC48:LC:0B

And the quick find search works as expected . . .

it's not working with me , what was your quick search input ? i am putting "0171:tec_jnpr_1:4_0_0:lon_jnpr_1:5_0_0:OC48:LC:0B' and gives result matches with "0171:tec_jnpr" instead of one service.

Is that result that you're getting a host or a service?

I think the logic for the search goes:
- search for any matching hosts
- if found, display the hosts
- if not found, display matching services if any
