Our AIX admin installed this http://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Di ... ns/details
We need to elevate permissions for a couple of the checks we are running, but are having two minor issues (Due to my lack of understanding perhaps).
1.) He doesn't recall it asking for a password for the nagios user when installing NRPE, and we aren't even sure it has a password. What happens if we set a password on that account, what will that break?
2.) If we give nagios sudo rights for the checks, what does the check need to look like in XI (were do I put the sudo?)
Thanks

Re: More AIX and NRPE questions
I cannot comment on setting passwords in AIX specifically and how Nagios XI would react. However regarding the sudo question, how about setting suid on the plugins that you wish to execute with root access?
Nagios-Plugins maintainer exclusively, unless you have other C language bugs with open-source nagios projects, then I am happy to help! Please pm or use other communication to alert me to issues as I no longer track the forum.
