Upgrading Core for NagiosXI?

Post by oneida »

I am running the latest version of NagiosXI (2012R1.5) though I noticed that Nagios Core is running at an older version than what's currently available. Do I need to upgrade Core separately? I've been following the NagiosXI upgrade guide (http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagi ... ctions.pdf), is there a separate guide to upgrade Core that's running under the covers? Is it recommended to do so?

NagiosXI Version 2012R1.5
Core Version 3.4.1

Thanks much!

Do not upgrade core on an XI box, it will break things. New versions of core are occasionally rolled into XI install/upgrade tarballs. But I repeat, do not upgrade core on the XI system, it will lead to all sorts of bad things potentially.

Right on, I won't touch it. I appreciate the response.

I was wondering about upgrade capability because one of our security guys was asking about a vulnerability impacting Nagios Core <3.4.4

Thanks

Yeah, we'll be upgrading Core to 3.4.4 in XI fairly soon. That security vulnerability is only a vulnerability for authenticated users, but we still plan on addressing it soon. We just like to verify the stability of the Core release before we roll it into XI.
