Hi
We have a very basic install of NAGIOS core 3.3.1 that was setup by someone no longer in the company, we are using it to monitor some servers local to the NAGIOS server, however we now would like to take this further.
We have servers at remote sites, the sites are not on an internal private WAN infrastructure, they are external sites over the public internet that are separated by firewalls, we would like these servers to report back to our NAGIOS server,
There are 2 things we would like to achieve
On sites with multiple servers we would like one server to collect all data for servers and then to report back to the central NAGIOS server over the public internet
If a site has multiple servers is there a way to have an agent collect the data and then one server at each site to send it back to the NAGIOS server.
Is this possible, if so if anyone can point me in the direction of how I would be grateful.
Thanks
Nick

Re: Using NAGIOS to montior remote sites over WAN
You could do this a couple ways, one would be to have another Nagios server at that site to collect all the data from those system's and then push it to a central Nagios server. This is a feature of Nagios XI in that it has the ability to tie in with other Nagios system's and output their host and service data at a different location. Though these things are not pre-configured in Nagios Core there are systems such as MNTOS which is a tactical view of multiple Nagios installations. Perhaps another tech or community member can chime in with their solution as well.
