Nagios XI Access

Post by jh129666 »

Is there a way to access nagios XI without entering credentials and still have the same permissions as if you were actually logged in?

I ask the question because we access our current monitoring application by just going to the URL (no credentials are used).

If credentials have to be entered to access Nagios, is there a way to change the session timeout so that the support team only has to login once during the day?

Thanks,

Jeff

Nagios XI does support single sign in, in the sense that you can enable automatic login to a specific account. So yes you can most certainly do this :).

You may access this through:

The automatic login can only be enabled for one account at any given time, is that correct?

I ask because I was wanting to enable it for all the exisitng accounts on our support team, but it doesn't look like that can be done.

If I would create a generic account that the support team would use, can multiple people be logged on as that same user or can that cause issues?

You can do this, however you will quite possibly corrupt the database and run into a whole host of issues related to modifying config files or moving files at the same time. It would be advisable to make sure that the user account will only monitor objects and not effect any changes via the core config manager. Then you could use the Nagios Admin account "which you would sign in on manually" for configuration changes, etc.. This would keep your system in good health whilst allowing multiple people to use the same account and watch what you are monitoring.
