User Not Authorized for one Host

Post by CGraham »

I have a user that when he tries to go to the Host or Service details for a particular host he gets an error:

"You are not authorized to view the requested object, or the object does not exist."

I couldn't hunt down where the issue was coming from, so finally I just deleted the host and cloned a host he has access to. Renamed and re-ip'd the host and now he's getting the same error again. I did a spot check of other hosts and he can access them just fine. Additionally I logged in as nagiosadmin and could bring up the Host and Service detail pages of the problem Host with no issues (so I know the object exists).

Any ideas?

Is this user set up as a monitoring contact for this particular host?

Yes. This was the subject of his complaints. He was getting the alarms but couldn't put the server in downtime.

I confirmed in the Notification History for the host.

Could you post the specific host and service config, and the contact config in a code wrap? (obfuscate any sensitive data)

Please, send us your latest configuration snapshot at [email protected]. It would be easier to further troubleshoot this issue via email. Also, let us know, what is the username of this contact, and what host he/she is trying to view. Thanks!
