It depends on the switch or router, we would need more information on this point, and also if they have logging capabilities, I know some users have attached the devices to a logserver and had nagios parse that data remotely grepping for certain strings indicative of changes.

Nagios does not currently directly monitor config changes on devices such as these, though as I stated above I know I have seen some other users configure logging in a round about manner and then return the data to nagios via passive checks. We do not have documentation on this however.

Do you know specifically what you would like to monitor in relation to those hard drives? It depends on the drive types.. There may be a plugin that goes into specifics such as this, though this is more in the realm of OS side check such as fscheck.. etc. Are you trying to monitor a raid array? Single IDE/Sata drive? SAS?

Tnx @slansing for the reply ... We use Single IDE and Sata drive ... we have more then 3000 PC - Windows PC and in more cases they crash and we have to make clone of that type of disk (we have in a background), so we want to have some kind of indicator before it crash so we can make a clone ( not on the crashed hard, we have images in a background and we make image, a new ones ), and not losing time at the moment the hard is crashed. Some kind of indicator that we have to make a clone because that drive is critical example have too much bad blocks or fscheck is critical ... now i don't know if fscheck have to work in background so he can send me the info about the hard or how ? Or i can get this info some other way ...

Okay sounds good, a search on our Exchange site comes up with a pretty big list, I would go through it to see if there has been a plugin already created for what you are looking to do:

Hi all,

I have some problems finding the right plugin ... still searching im on page 6 now :) ... but i have question about the MIB's here ... because on some plugins (scripts) i was getting some errors like:
Result: MIB search path: /root/.snmp/mibs:/usr/share/mibs/site:/usr/share/snmp/mibs:/usr/share/mibs/iana:/usr/share/mibs/ietf:/usr/share/mibs/netsnmp
Cannot find module (sysUpTime): At line 0 in (none)
Timeout: No Response from 10.25.1.5
So i was wondering do i have to download some MIB's (Dell because we use Dell PC everywhere) i have the same problem with the Cisco MIB's and i downloaded and put them in usr/share/mibs/netsnmp and now it works ... before i put the MIB's i used the OID number instead and it works, now i just have to put the name ... so is this the same problem as before like with the cisco i have and do i have to downloads some MIB's. And if i have to can some one tell me from where and how to implement on my server/Nagios

MPIvan, can you copy your question and add it to a new thread? This may turn into a thread of it's own. Thanks! Locking the thread.
