Config Files Sync issue

Post by persnet »

Using Nagios XI version 2009R1.1F.

We are now running into an issue where the core config files are not getting updated. When you apply a new configuration, no errors or warnings are displayed. Yet, when you look at the Commands section, you clearly see a warning stating that the configuration files are out of date. We've looked at permissions and they do indeed look ok (not to mention no one has changed them). Also, while some of the core config files are not being updated, the host config files ARE being updated without issue. It's extremely disheartening considering how much progress we've made in the setup of this system at our site and how the problem just started happening after doing nothing but adding new hosts via the wizard. We've attached screenshots showing permissions on the config files and the errors being displayed. Any assistance provided is greatly appreciated.

We found a solution for this from Nagios. Not sure how permissions/group permissions got changed as we didn't modify them, but this command corrected the permissions issues and allowed us to successfully sync the config files:

SOLUTION:

chown nagios.nagios /usr/local/nagios/etc/*.cfg

We're adding a new script to the upcoming 2009R1.1G release that will reset permissions on all files before/after configuration changes are applied (like you did manually). For some reason they appear to get messed up in certain situations.
As of May 25th, 2018, all communications with Nagios Enterprises and its employees are covered under our new Privacy Policy.
