View Nagios Report from specific time frame?

Post by psyllex »

It is possible to save a view, dashboard or report for a particular time period with Nagios XI? My project lead says he's seen reports for Nagios that happened in the past but I'm not entirely sure how to do this.

He may be speaking in reference to a Report which was ran for a specific date/time range, does he have more details as to what report and what he meant by in the past?

No unfortunatley he gave no details. For example could I run a test on my system. Then capture the information from Naxios XI that happened during that test and continually refer to it later?

If you were to print or save the PDF as .CSV or .PDF files then you could archive it, but Nagios will not retain a flat image of the report on it's own. Unless of course you saved your logging information, as some of these data sets are pulled from archived Nagios XI logs, an example would be viewing reports of the server from a month, or year ago.

So if I made a dashboard with all the things I would like to look at, ran a test, could I thing put that into some format (csv or pdf) that I could then view in the browser like I would if I was looking at my dashboard in realtime ? I know that sounds weird, it makes no sense to me either. I've tried to example to him that if he want's to view a test (almost in realtime) all he has to do is run the test then wait a few minutes and Nagios will give him what he's looking for. Is that the better option than trying to get some kind of archive of a test we ran 10 days ago and are trying to show the effects of the test today? Hopefully that makes sense.

The only way you would be able to do this currently is to click the small clock looking Icon I had mentioned, "Schedule Page." Then send the report, making sure a PDF is attached, that would include a still image of the page you have selected. I just tested this with several dashlets which update multiple times a minute, it seems to work fine.

Ok...thanks. One more question. Could we possible populate a HTML report with the cvs file? Is that a doable task or not really worth the time?

Possible, but you would have to write the code as it does not exist yet. Javascript or php will be needed.
