Arg help with Check_MSMQ
Arg help with Check_MSMQ
I'm using the check_msmq plugin and am getting:
Exception processing request: Request contained arguments (not currently allowed, check the allow arguments option).
If i run the script from the server it works fine:
cscript //NoLogo //T:10 check_msmq.vbs MessageCount DIRECT=OS:servername\private$\aw2_generalupdate 50 200
command.cfg
define command {
command_name check_msmq
command_line /usr/local/src/nagios-plugins-1.4.16/plugins/check_nrpe -H $HOSTADDRESS$ -p 5666 -t 30 -c check_msmq -a $ARG1$
}
windows.cfg
define service {
use generic-service
host_name servername
service_description msmq
check_command check_msmq!"MessageCount DIRECT=OS:servername\private$\aw2_generalupdate 50 200"
}
Everything checks out fine, but I'm wondering if the syntax is incorrect. Is there a tag specifically for text input?
Thanks

Re: Arg help with Check_MSMQ
Have you set "dont_blame_nrpe" to "1" in the remote host's nrpe.cfg file?
After you change the option above, restart nrpe on the remote host:
Code: Select all
dont_blame_nrpe=1Code: Select all
service nrpe restartFormer Nagios employee

Re: Arg help with Check_MSMQ
I don't have a setting for this in my INI file. This is for a Windows machine. I do, however, have the NRPEServer set to 1

Re: Arg help with Check_MSMQ
You do not need NRPE server to be enabled, this is an option which enables the NSClient++ daemon to act as receiving point for NRPE checks, and then be able to push them out to a Nagios/Nagios Xi server.
Can you post your NSC/NSClient.ini file, obfuscating any IP's or passwords you do not wish to share? That way, we can verify the correct sections are enabled, and give you pointers on your plugin definitions.

from the nagios server it looks like it's the arguement I'm putting in the Windows.cfg. Wrong syntax?

Still getting a bad argument error. This should be just passing this as a text input as it runs in the script, right? For some reason, i think, the equal sign is negating this statement as a text input.

Re: Arg help with Check_MSMQ
Actually being you have a script wrapping for vbs, you shoul change the line in nsc.ini to
Code: Select all
check_msmq=scripts/check_msmq.vbs $ARG1$
Re: Arg help with Check_MSMQ
Doesn't it need to see the cscript.exe to run the vbs? I did change the INI file and I get this error:
ExternalCommands: failed to create process (scripts/check_msmq.vbs $ARG1$): it is not an exe file (check NSC.log for more info) - failed to lookup error code: 193( reson: 87)
I also see this in the nsclient.log file:

Which would make me think i do need the cscript.exe
Thanks
ExternalCommands: failed to create process (scripts/check_msmq.vbs $ARG1$): it is not an exe file (check NSC.log for more info) - failed to lookup error code: 193( reson: 87)
I also see this in the nsclient.log file:
2013-03-23 13:08:04: e:d:\source\nscp\trunk\include\execute_process_w32.hpp:150: scripts/check_msmq.vbs $ARG1$ is not an .exe file or a valid image (if you run a script you usually need to prefix the command with the interpreter like so: "command=c:\perl.exe <script>"
Which would make me think i do need the cscript.exe
Thanks
