I also tested it, and was not able to recreate the issue.
First, I set up a service with the same name. Quick find search, gave me this:
Then, I added a host with this name, and tried a quick find again. It showed me both, the host and the service:

We are working on the issue. It is not fixed, yet but it *should* be in the next release. The problem comes from the colon ":" in the service name.

What version of Nagios XI are you on? To my knowledge we actually fixed this a few releases ago.

Upgrade to 2012r1.7 and report back.

ok we will do so and update you. what are the steps to be consider before upgrade from old to new version could you please share so we can avoid any distrubtion or disaster on our monitoring system which is running stable.
