XI stops sending alerts after network interruption

Post by kiddbios »

Yesterday afternoon the switch that our XI server is connected to went down. We plugged the XI server into a new switch and re-established connectivity. However, XI did not send any new alerts. This was not apparent until 8 a.m. this morning when we normally get alerts for things that happened during the night, which we did not receive. Logging into XI it thought that there were a number of devices down that were not actually down. I restarted the XI service and everything went back to normal. Is this expected behavior?

Was the IP dynamically changed once you plugged into the new switch for some reason? It is possible that the connection was lost as some checks data was being received which could have caused the hosts/services to go into a "timed out" state since they did not receive the data in a timely manner.

The IP is not dynamic. It's constantly checking, so it's entirely possible that it could have gone into a timed out state.

This is possible, depending on the rate at which you check, I would just keep an eye on the system and let us know if a symptom such as the check latency growing occurs.
