We get snmp trap alerts, but wondering how I can clean up the messages we get.
Here is one example:
***** Nagios XI Alert *****
Nagios has detected a problem with this service.
Notification Type: PROBLEM
Service: SNMP Traps
Host: Calix B6 Terrace
State: CRITICAL
Info:
The PON link status of an ONT 3 3 sd cleared 3:740 / enterprises.6066.2.1.2.6.1.1.9 ():3 enterprises.6066.2.1.2.6.1.1.13 ():3 enterprises.6066.2.1.2.6.1.1.1 ():sd enterprises.6066.2.1.2.6.1.1.2 ():cleared enterprises.6066.2.1.3.3.1.16 ():3:740
Date/Time: 2013-04-18 04:10:58
====
And one from our MX:
Service: SNMP Traps
Host: Juniper MX480
State: CRITICAL
Info:
The BGP Established event is generated when 06 06 established / mib-2.15.3.1.14.64.251.85.181 ():06 06 mib-2.15.3.1.2.64.251.85.181 ():established
Date/Time: 2012-12-10 10:14:30
------------
I know in the top example on the Calix shelf that ONT 3 on GPON 3 cleared an alarm, but there is a lot of cruft there thats not needed.
And the MX480 trap, while I know what it is, is it possible to clean the Info line up?
Most of our SNMP trap alerts the info line has some useful info, but I'd like to see if the messages we can can be more
concise.
Would I have to edit the OID in snmptt.conf directly to get better info?
Thanks.

Re: SNMP Trap Messages.
You would have to manually modify the EXEC line from snmptt.conf
