Windows Event Log Service Status Reset

Post by WillemDH »

Hello,

Now I've got the NSCA setup, I still have some questions that don't seem to be answered in the official documentation.

What is the best way to reset the status of an event log service? Should I use freshness checks? As these freshness checks are executed with a configured time, this doesn't seem a good solution as you don't know if the problem has been solved. Is there a way to manually reset the status to OK?
I also read something about a dummy check. What's the difference with the freshness check?

Yes, you can submit a "passive check result" to XI by clicking into the service details section, selecting the service, then clicking advanced. From here you can submit the passive check result. Alternatively you could use freshness checks, and you can define their thresholds manually:

Ok, Thanks. I just tested this. The eventlog monitoring seems to be working fine now.
