Sevice Dependencies
Sevice Dependencies
How to configure service dependencies . To generate alram by cheking two services of different hosts
Re: Sevice Dependencies
Could you please clarify? Do you want one of the services to be dependent on the other? Or something else?

Re: Sevice Dependencies
In XI, go to --> Config --> Core Config Manager --> Advanced --> Service Dependencies.
Click "add new".
Give it a config name and dependency period.
"Manage Hosts" sets the host for the service your config is depending on.
"Manage Services" sets the Service that the config is depending on.
"Manage Dependent Hosts" sets the host of the service that is dependent on the above service.
"Manage Service Dependencies" sets the service that are dependent on the above service.
Set your notification and execution criteria and save out.
The following document is for core, but the logic is the same in XI: http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3_0/ ... ncies.html

Re: Sevice Dependencies
You should be able to do this just fine. However you would manage the dependencies from the new service. Adding multiple dependencies is not an issue.
Nagios-Plugins maintainer exclusively, unless you have other C language bugs with open-source nagios projects, then I am happy to help! Please pm or use other communication to alert me to issues as I no longer track the forum.
Re: Sevice Dependencies
You would add the dependent service to both of those services' service dependencies. You will have to make a service dependency for each of those services.

Re: Sevice Dependencies
suppose we have 2 host A and B .we want to add a service on host B which which should be ok in the following conditions
1. if A is down and B is UP
2.if B is down and A is UP.
it should only notify when A and B both (hosts) are down
1. if A is down and B is UP
2.if B is down and A is UP.

Re: Sevice Dependencies
This sounds like something which would be more easily configured and explained in the context of BPI groups, please take a look at this link:
http://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Ad ... 29/details
It sounds like these are hypothetical questions which I am assuming have some end goal, but this is how they could be put into practice.
